IN A NUTSHELL
‘Send and Receive’ is a short film that marks the beginning of a film series that aims to show contemporary architecture through the eyes of international architectural filmmakers.
The film shows the new SWR Mannheim broadcasting building designed by Steimle Architekten. In 90 seconds, the film takes a poetic look at the structure and function of the building.
A cinematic interpretation of a built idea.
Architecture
From inside to outside and vice versa.
The interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces blurs the boundaries between work in the studio and urban space. The building is both a transmitter and a receiver. The all-round glazed glass façade, rhythmised by vertical white pilaster strips, creates a high degree of visual permeability.
Views from the outside enter the interior of the building and, in turn, connect the media players with their immediate surroundings. Two storeys each form a storey package. The three storey packages are skilfully arranged on top of each other, so that the projections and recesses give the solitary building on the banks of the Neckar a sculptural effect.

In a Nutshell
“The Ceremony” is a short film that continues a new film series that aims to show contemporary architecture through the eyes of international
architectural filmmakers.
The film shows the new funeral pavilion of the Franciscan sisters of Reute, which is part of the future project Klosterberg of the Reute monastery. In two and a half minutes, a poetic view of the great human narrative of becoming and passing away is created. Structure and texture, material and composition are taken into account. A cinematic interpretation of the eternal cycle of nature and culture.
The result is a homage to a place of hope - to life.
Architecture
From the earth to the primal hut - the cycle as a metaphor
The funeral pavilion of the Franciscan sisters of Reute visualizes in a way that is both simple and impressive the power that an ancient cultural technique such as clay construction can exert on us humans. The simple building material was taken from nature and, with the addition of earth from 60 other sites of the Franciscan sisters of Reute around the world, was shaped by experienced architects and craftsmen into a tugurium - the primal hut. Seldom is the process of transformation from nature to culture seen more impressively than in this process. And it is downright astonishing what effect this sustainable and simple use of our natural resources can have on us and our environment. The building material for this house is taken from nature, with hardly any greater symbolic power, in order to become nature again one day in the distant future. With great foresight, the Franciscan sisters of Reute placed their trust in the clay building pioneer Martin Rauch from Schlins/Vorarlberg, as well as the architects Braunger Wörtz from Blaustein, to complete this construction task.

INNOVATIONSFABRIK 2.0
WAECHTER + WAECHTER
ARCHITECTS
In a Nutshell
With the short film ‘Innovationsfabrik 2.0’, Polar.Pictures undertakes the task of expanding the horizon beyond the architectural view and taking a broader look at a building that is now in operation. The film focuses on how people use the building. In a rather playful yet analytical way, the film shows how the building is used by companies and start-ups and how it functions in operation. The music, enriched with a few atmospheric original sounds, subtly supports the image of a modern and innovative working environment. The predominant building and construction material, wood, as well as the matching colour scheme of all other components, are tangible in the images and convey the architects' intended material impression.
Architecture
The ‘Innovationsfabrik 2.0’ in Heilbronn is a future-oriented building designed to promote innovation and creative ideas. It is located in a dynamic environment in the Neckaruferpark in Heilbronn. Companies, start-ups and research institutions come together here to work on new solutions. The building is characterized by its innovative architecture, which integrates open work areas, flexible spaces and state-of-the-art technology.
The truss-like structure of the façade supports, the logic of the construction as it were, determines the iconographic appearance.
The aim of the ‘Innovationsfabrik 2.0‘ is to facilitate interaction and drive innovation in the Heilbronn region. It is a place that promotes creativity, exchange and progress - perfect for anyone who wants to actively shape the future!

KURT´S GARDEN
Design Build Project
Hochschule RheinMain
In a Nutshell
• Kurt´s Garden is a project developed by students at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (hsrm) under the direction of Prof. Isabella Leber
• The task was to design a garden shed and a small café on campus.
• Colors and materials were carefully selected to blend seamlessly into the surroundings.
• Recycling played a key role; many materials were reused.
• The roof collects rainwater for use in the university garden.
• The construction process took 2-3 weeks.
Project Description
Four years ago, a university garden was established, and it was now time to make it more visible on campus.
The task was to design a new space with a garden shed for storing tools and water. The idea for a small café also emerged.
Recycled materials were used, and a water tank was installed to collect rainwater from the roof.
The construction process was characterized by spontaneity, perhaps a little chaotic, but very enjoyable and educational.
